Are you working to expand quality financial services access? The 2018 Harvard Business School – Accion Program on Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance is accepting applications for what will be another exceptional week of learning and exchange among world leaders in financial inclusion. The program will take place March 25-30, 2018 at the HBS campus in Boston, Massachusetts. We hope you’ll join us!

The 2018 HBS-Accion Program builds on an extensive legacy: 12 successful years and over 800 alumni—including CEOs, presidents, executive directors, and other high-level professionals—from roughly 100 countries. The HBS-Accion Program was the world’s first education course to provide high-level management and leadership training for those shaping the inclusive finance sector.

The current landscape of financial services for low-income consumers is increasingly complex, with a diversity of products, providers, and support organizations extending services to previously excluded populations. Disruptive technologies and new business models are creating new possibilities for reaching more people with even more specialized products and services. It’s an exciting time for financial inclusion, though for leaders navigating their organizations through this landscape, the pace and magnitude of change may seem overwhelming.

Previous HBS-Accion Program participants have included leaders from microfinance institutions, commercial banks, technology firms, investment funds, and policymaking bodies. Financial service providers will benefit from the guidance of some of the world’s top thought leaders in business strategy and management and gain a deeper understanding of both the possibilities and the pitfalls of today’s financial services marketplace. Policymakers, regulators, and investors will find it valuable to get a closer look at how the financial inclusion space is evolving around the world.

The HBS-Accion Program is an intensive week-long immersive learning experience with highly participatory and engaging class discussions. At its core is the famous HBS case method approach in which participants work through real-life situations and decisions while exploring the key issues shaping financial inclusion. Case studies are drawn from impact investing, microfinance and inclusive finance industries and highlight examples of new and innovative business models that target clients at the base of the pyramid. The program is led by HBS faculty members V. Kasturi Rangan, co-chair of the HBS Social Enterprise Initiative, and Michael Chu, Senior Lecturer at HBS and recognized microfinance leader, together with other HBS faculty members.

For more information, including details on how to apply, please visit the program website, or email hbsaccion@accion.org. All applications are due December 15, 2017.
