It is terrific that Beth was one among those from the US microfinance community that spoke out at the AFI meeting in Bali. The importance of facilitating peer-to-peer exchange rather than relying solely or even mainly on western "experts" has been reinforced many times in my career most recently in Ethiopia where I am today. I am glad Beth called that aspect of AFI out. The possibilities for deeper regulator/practitioner collaboration were also powerful brought out in this Q&A and hopefully we will see more of that. Certainly awareness of consumer protection in the microfinance context among regulators owes a lot to the Center's leadership on this issue. Bravo! --Alex Counts, President, Grameen Foundation
